here is the finished 4ft smoking can commission for camel cigarettes. i used acrylics and finished the piece with gloss varnish. the company wanted to give back to chicago artists, and so i let them share the wealth with me!
my inspiration for this painting came from the photographs i love of musicians in the 1950’s. the vibe of artists like nat king cole and billie holiday of that time is poetic and vibrant. the musicians playing at the piano with cigarette in mouth and at the microphone, cigarette in hand brings back memories of a time when we could smoke in public and be ourselves.
