black is the color is my true love’s hair
his face so soft and wondrous fair
the purest eyes and the strongest hands
i love the ground on where he stands
black is the color of my true love’s hair
oh, i love my lover and well he knows
yes, i love the ground on where he goes
and still i hope that the time will come
when he and i will be as one
black is the color of my true love’s hair
- Nina Simone
what if trees were aliens, protecting us from harm with their shade, giving a gentle breeze on a warm summer day, and providing the very oxygen we breathe.
this series of 4 trees, one for each season “hope sun trees” pays homage to the power of nature and the sun. i believe that there is hope in the rising of the sun, and when you wake up to a beautiful day with fresh trees and sunlight, you become renewed again each day.
winter, spring, summer, or fall. all you’ve got to do is call, and i’ll be there yes i will. you’ve got a friend.
spring sun come, winter wonderment, and summer moonlight are still available.

have finished my most recent commissioned portrait for a friend and her lovely family.
miss elena (the beautiful woman on the left) gave me several different photos of the family members as reference. i put them together in one shot as if they had been in the same room. she wanted a modern look in all back + white with a simple frame, here is my result.

i am very honored to be one of the artists from chicago to represent the 2011 bombay sapphire artisan series at gallery guichard. two my paintings “simone’s song” and “hope sun rising” were selected for the exhibition, and now hang in gallery guichard located at 3521 s. king drive through november.
although i was not one of the 2 semi-finalists named for chicago (congrats to gerald griffin + michael coakes!) i still have a chance to win a trip to miami to compete for a show at art basel if you vote for my work online here and here!
to inquire about either of these works of art, please contact andre guichard at andreguichard@gmail.com.
thank you for your support!
love and light.
